The Battered Wife
Roles Cult Leaders & Converts play:
The imbecility of men is always inviting the impudence of power. --Ralph Waldo Emerson
Religious cults prey and dominate the lives of converts who won't question their authority. In the Watchtower Society, the Governing Body, the leader of Jehovah's Witnesses, plays an important role of an abusive husband. Jehovah's Witnesses play the role of a submissive wife. Jehovah's Witnesses (submissive Wives) craves attention from their leaders. Cultic victims suffered from childhood unbalanced up-bringing and tends to repeat similar patterns in society. People who are victims of cult like Jehovah's Witnesses are co-dependent of their leaders and are to conform or adapt to their arbitrary regulations that will benefit the leaders' greed. Most insecure cultic followers tend to look on the leaders as little obedient children for provision, protection and guidance to direct them every course and decision. Cult leaders are a father figure (one who is in authority) for those cult followers. However, we see how these religious cults use Cyrians quote to reflect how these followers should behave toward their leaders. Here's what the Watchtower Society has say:
“Honour thy father and thy mother.” (Ex. 20: 12)...The father represents Jehovah, from whom comes every good thing, while the mother represents God’s organization, used for his good purposes and to his glory." 1931, Vindication I, p. 158
Witnesses of the Watchtower become consume with the leader's materials and love for them. The leaders love bomb their prospects and listen to their problems that insights them to spend inconsiderable time, money, and effort to know their true infatuation. The leaders of these religious cults exploit on their members' emotion and weakness to suppress them with fear and guilt. Witnesses find their new love and are willing invest their time to reflect their dedication to the leaders. Communication plays an important part of indoctrination phase to lure their new bash of converts. They will listen, empathize, and provide for converts as any parents would do for their children. Daniel Hall, who is the chief editor of "The Revealer News Journal,"5 spent amount of considerable time analyzing the abnormal behaviors between Abusive Men/Abused Women and the Watchtower/Witnesses. Here are his comparison:
