The Battered Wife
Five year later, they had a four years old son named Peter. Lisa wanted to attend college to take some courses to be able to explore different variety of subjects. She had been home, and she gave birth to Peter. Jack don't want Lisa to attend college because he feared that she will be more informed then he is. In fact, he also feared that she will develop an independent spirit and leave him. Jack wanted to oppress her so he could get her to depend (co-dependency) on him for everything. Therefore, things had changed after Lisa had married Jack. He didn't allow her to go with her friends, or celebrate any of the holidays where people may try to influence her. He feared they would tell her that she had married a jerk who doesn't care about her well being. He kept her in the house busy enough to take care for their young Peter. If Jack could make Lisa's mind occupied with household duties, he didn't have to worry about her doubting him.
Tom told Jack to keep a woman busy so that she won't have time to think on her own. Jack wanted to make sure that she is locked inside their new home isolated from the rest of her world. Her friends had finally broken ties with Lisa for not keeping up with their friendship. At this time, she is left with nothing. She had to give up everything for Jack so she did. Jack blackmails her sexually. He at times doesn't fulfill his responsibility sexually to Lisa and treats sex as a punishment.
Readers, have you wondered why insecure men go to places where they can find women who are less informed in many subjects. Are dance, single clubs and low paying jobs full of uneducated women where insecure men prey on? Do women in these clubs look for a sugar daddy? Do people treat marriage like a business merger, power manipulator, and an oppressor? Jack continued the abuse of Lisa throughout their marriage both verbally and physically, this drove her to find another man to listen to her fears and doubts. They had a platonic relationship and he showed her how a real man doesn't abuse a woman. He also explained to her from articles that he had gathered to convince her that battered women die from abusive husbands. Lisa could be killed if she continued to remain loyal to her abusive husband. Lisa went to the fifth Avenue Public Library to seek more information on battered women. She had realized that she has been a victim of that domestic crime and wanted to know how can she could be free from Jack.
